Smoking Cessation Treatment Package

First, congratulations on deciding to quit smoking!

Medical research has shown that acupuncture is a powerful tool that can help curb withdrawal symptoms of nicotine and support the process of quitting smoking. Dr. Michael Smith, who headed the premier substance abuse center utilizing acupuncture in the United States, said that “in addition to reducing withdrawal symptoms, acupuncture provides a strong calming effect on substance abusers and substantially reduces drug cravings.” Clients describe the effects of acupuncture as allowing them to feel relaxed yet alert. An appointment is made for the first morning that you have not had any cigarettes. During this initial visit we will discuss how to help make this transition as smooth as possible, and treatment will begin. Seven follow up visits are scheduled. Each follow up visit is 1 hour and will occur at least two times per week to maximize the treatment.

“When I decided I wanted to stop smoking, Diana booked a first appointment and gave me a link to her web site that had a 7 day countdown. This is a very helpful way of reaching and recognizing your challenge. However, I had already tried to quit more than 3 times before, each time using a similar countdown to the day method. This time, I wanted to make sure that I was going to be successful. That is why I decided to not announce my intentions of quitting smoking to everyone, as stated in the countdown. Quitting smoking was for me and no one else – I didn’t feel it warranted a parade or a slew of well wishers. Now was simply the right time to do it and I needed Diana’s help in succeeding.

Diana was incredibly flexible and supportive. She kept low key when requested, but was able to give me positive feedback any time I needed it. Diana was there to listen to me and give me what I needed. The treatments were fantastic – each one catered to a different process of cleansing my system and was a time to just meditate and give my body a break and breathe. Diana gave me herbal supplements for in-between sessions that helped me maintain the peace of mind and strength I gained during the sessions. She also put pressure point seeds in my ears that I wore for about 24 hours after the session.

Strangely, during the sessions, I didn’t think about smoking as much as I expected. After the first week I had very few withdrawal symptoms and little to no cravings. The releasing of emotions was the most revealing of the process. I was able to reclaim my anger, which had been suppressed by nicotine for so long. I was able to sleep longer and I became less dependent on other stimulants like caffeine.

Now I don’t feel like a smoker – more like a never-ever have been a smoker! The smell still triggers memories but not the cravings. Slowly, my lungs are healing and my energy and endurance have improved. I wish I felt more of a farewell to smoking when remembering why it was so essential in my life for so long, but I don’t.

During one session, Diana asked me to visualize an animal that represented myself. The regenerative qualities of a snake felt like an appropriate symbol of my transformation.
